You overlay all of that with the challenges posed by Covid-19. So, what we really wanted to understand working with Frost & Sullivan is: How does the crisis, the pandemic, really affect the strategic plans of the companies, the road transport companies in this sector… and most importantly what solutions can we develop and offer to our customers in this area?

What are the key areas of development driving growth in the industry today?
[Footage of Franck Leveque]
Based on our forecast, the global road freight industry is expected to grow between 2020 and 2025.

But that growth, beyond the macroeconomics, is actually being driven by significant trends that are reshaping the fleet operation, especially around the topics of digitalisation and decarbonisation.
But when you talk about digitalisation, it’s more than just reducing cost, it’s about generating new revenue streams, it’s about customer loyalty and customer stickiness.
[Footage of Patrick Carré]
I think decarbonisation is a real challenge for the industry.

The innovation in powertrains but also the arrival of alternative fuels, such as Bio fuels, LNG, BioLNG and hydrogen will lead the industry towards an ever decreasing amount of CO2, ultimately, towards a net zero carbon emission.
As Shell globally is a partner of millions of fleets, we are really committed to working with our customers and to supporting our customers through this change.
